Wendell Hanscom Obituary

HANSCOM, WENDELL L., 75, of Toby Hanna St., Providence, died Wednesday, October 1, 2008 at home. He was the husband of the late Claire (Joyce) Hanscom.

Born in Tilley, New Brunswick, Canada, he was the son of the late Douglas and Helen (Paris) Hanscom. He was employed at RI Hospital Trust for 22 years before his retirement.

He was a Korean and Vietnam War veteran serving in the US Navy for 22 years and was awarded several citations and medals.

He was the father of Deborah J. Keokongta of Lynn, MA, Donna M. and Diane M. Hanscom of Warwick, Denise M. and Joseph D. Hanscom of Providence, grandfather of Cian Neak, Angelique Argueta, Dario Hernandez all of Providence and Gianna Bianchi of Warwick, brother of Vera Mayo of CA, Wilda Montieth of FL, Berdina Morehouse of CT, Claude Hanscomb of ME.

His funeral services will be held in the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME, 1278 Park Ave., Cranston on Monday at 10 a.m. Burial with military honors will be in the RI Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. VISITING HOURS Sunday 3-6 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 931 Jefferson Blvd. Suite 3004 Warwick, RI 02886.
