Margaret Baldwin Obituary

BALDWIN, MARGARET M. 'PEGGY' of Central Avenue, Johnston, died peacefully at home on Tuesday, October 14, 2008. She was the wife of the late Robert D. Baldwin.

Born in Providence, daughter of the late Cornelius M. and Margaret M. Lonergan, she lived in Johnston for the past 54 years.

A graduate of Bryant College, she worked at Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. until becoming a mother. She then devoted her life to her family and her family's business interests in agriculture, building, and land development. She taught catechism and served on the Parish Council and Women's Guild of St. Joseph's Church, North Scituate, and volunteered as PTO Treasurer of Brown Avenue Elementary School and at all of the schools her children attended.

She was known by all for her warmth, kindness, intelligence, wit, and pleasant outlook, and she was deeply religious. She gave of herself to all, especially her husband, children, and grandchildren.

She was the beloved mother of Patricia A. Baldwin and William J. Baldwin of Johnston, and Robert J. Baldwin of Lincoln, and the loving grandmother of Kathleen, Mary Beth, and Carolyn Dawson of Johnston and Stephanie and Justin Baldwin of Lincoln. She leaves behind her sister Martha Devlin and brother-in-law James Devlin of Cranston, and her nephew and nieces.

A Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph's Church and burial services at St. Ann's Cemetery were held privately per her wishes.
