Robert Skinner Obituary

SKINNER, ROBERT D., 92, of Prudence Court, Warwick, died on Friday, October 24, 2008 at Kent County Memorial Hospital in Warwick. He was the husband of the late Doris L. (Murphy) Skinner and the late Jessie S. (Sloan) Goodwin Skinner.

Born in Providence, the son of the late Bernard J. and Marguerite A. (Harris) Skinner, he lived in Warwick for most of his life.

Mr. Skinner was a steamfitter and member of Plumbers Pipefitters Local # 51 since 1940. After retirement, he spent many years active in senior activities with the Asbury Coasters.

He leaves a son, Robert B. Skinner and his wife Alice, of Warwick; a grandson, Edward B. Skinner of Warwick; and five great-grandchildren, Monica J., Brian T., Savannah R., Ashley M., and Edward R. Skinner. He was the grandfather of the late Joseph R. Skinner.

His funeral will be held on Monday, October 27, at 9 a.m. from the Barrett & Cotter Funeral Home, 1328 Warwick Avenue, Spring Green, Warwick, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Timothy Church, 1799 Warwick Avenue, Warwick. Visiting hours are Sunday 4-7 p.m. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Park, Johnston. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to St. Timothy Church Memorial Fund, or to VNA of Care New England Hospice, 51 Health Lane, Warwick, RI 02886.
