Hazel Brown Obituary

BROWN, HAZEL C. 'AUNT HAZE' (SCHMIDT), 87, beloved wife of the late Bernard J. Brown, entered into eternal rest with the Lord on October 27, 2007. She died peacefully at home with her sister Gloria at her side.

Born on December 22, 1919 in Harrison, New Jersey, she was a daughter of the late William and Caroline (Leicht) Schmidt.

Hazel married Bernard on November 30, 1946 and they were happily married for 59 years. They were inseparable all of their married lives. As caretaker for her husband in his final years, Hazel was a true demonstration of love in action. They loved to dance! She also enjoyed baking and doting on her nieces and nephews. Hazel worked as an assembler at General Electric for 40 years retiring in 1980. She and her husband moved to Rhode Island in 1986 to be close to her sister and family. Hazel was a charter member of the Cornerstone of Faith United Methodist Church in Coventry.

She is survived by her sister Gloria G. Myers of Coventry; six nieces and nephews Linda and Roger Moreau, Cliff and Dianne Myers, Lori and Russell Sprague all of Warwick, Glenn and Diane Myers of Coventry, Dotty and William Moran of Cranston, Debra and John Newton of Newport; seven grandnieces and grandnephews, and a great grandnephew. She is also survived by Shotzee, a miniature schnauzer. She was the sister of the late Elmer and Clifford Schmidt. She was also survived by Pastor Jinwoo Chun and good neighbor Al Ruotolo.

Her Funeral Service will be held Wednesday at 9:00 am in THE URQUHART-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Route 5, Greenwood, Warwick (Exit 12A on I-95). Burial will follow in R.I. Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter. Relatives and friends are invited and may call Tuesday 5-8 pm. In lieu of flowers, gifts in her memory to The Cornerstone of Faith United Methodist Church, 1081 Main St., Coventry, RI 02816 would be appreciated. www.murphyfuneralhomes.org

Auntie Haze, I miss you so much already... we all do! Every Sunday at church will never be the same. Just know that your family loved you so very much and you will always be apart of our lives! Andrew may not remember b/c of his age how wonderful you truely were but I will make sure he knows who his GREAT GREAT Aunt Hazel was!!! Hope you and Uncle B are dancing away with the big man upstairs. And I'm comforted knowing that God has an angel like you to watch over us always!!! Love you!
