Charles Castigliego Obituary

CASTIGLIEGO, CHARLES M. 'CHARLIE', 92, passed away Saturday, December 1, 2007 at the Veterans Hospital, Providence. He was the beloved husband of Rose (Famiglietti) Castigliego. They were happily married 64 years from the St. Ann Church, Providence.

Born in Bristol, he was the devoted son of the late Francesco and Cesina (Della Bella) Castigliego.

Mr. Castigliego was an Army Veteran serving during WWII. He was employed at Ward Baking Co., Pawtucket as a truck driver retiring in 1977, he then became co-owner with his beloved wife Rose of Casgo Jewelry, North Providence.

He also served as an usher for the Providence Auditorium in the 1940's and 1950's for Hockey and Boxing events. Charlie was an avid boxing, baseball and hockey fan.

Besides his wife he is survived by two sons Charles and Raymond Castigliego; two daughters Joann Castigliego and Rosemary Hallas; a sister Mary Primiano and seven grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Nicola, Cosmo and Damon Castigliego, Annie Principe, Susan Paradiso, Antonetta Bilotti, and Carmella Agostinho. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

His funeral will be held Thursday at 10am from the A.A. MARIANI Funeral Home, 200 Hawkins St., Providence, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11am in St. Ann Church, Hawkins St. Providence. Visiting hours Wednesday 4-8pm. Burial with full military honors will be in RI Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. In lieu of flowers, donations in his name can be made to: St. Ann Church Memorial Fund, 2 Russo Street, Providence, RI 02904, would be appreciated.

Uncle Charlie...thought you'd be around forever, but we know better. Now God has welcomed you with loving arms wrapped around you. Make sure you give all those that have gone before you a great big kiss...especially to my mom, Katie. I hope you continue to tease her! I love you, Uncle Charlie, and will miss seeing your face.
