He was born at the Barber home on May 5, 1921, to George and Sarah (Wilson) Barber. He married Eileen M. Erickson on Nov. 11, 1949, at Pilgrim Holiness Church in Traverse City. Today he rejoices with her in Heaven, his final resting place.
He was a dairy farmer until the mid-80s. The farm was his life. He loved woodworking, reading and singing.
He is survived by three daughters and one son, Wilda (Bruce) Merrill of Hudsonville, Mich., Lois (Ben) Deemer of Grand Rapids, Alice (Larry) Hall and Mark (Lisa) Barber, all of Lake Ann; two sisters: Mary Smith of Irrigon, Ore., and Anna Bolthouse of Hastings, Mich.; 15 grandchildren, 12 — plus one on the way — great-grandchildren; 24 nieces and nephews; and many extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, parents, grandparents and his brother, Paul.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 23, at the original Lake Ann United Methodist Church, known now as their educational facility, with visitation beginning at noon. Please note the change in location. Interment will take place in the Lake Ann Cemetery in Lake Ann. A potluck meal will follow the graveside service at the church. In honor of dad's love for potlucks and fellowship, a dish to pass is welcomed, yet not necessary. Visitation also will be held from 5-9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 22, at the Bennett-Barz Funeral Home in Beulah.
Memorial contributions may be made to Munson Hospice and Palliative Care of Traverse City or the Benzie Home Health Care of Beulah as special thanks for all of their assistance during his lifetime.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Bennett-Barz Funeral Home, Harris-Sheffler Chapel, in Beulah, www.bennett-barzfuneralhome.com.

My condolences to Carl's family. I too have fond memories of visiting the Barber farm with my family (Dave & Millie Bare) and later visiting Carl a year after Eileen's death. Now he's with her as he wished even then, though he still had a great love of life and shared that with my boys.
