Marie was born Aug. 26, 1915, in Suttons Bay, the oldest of William and Lorena (Belanger) Stallman's nine children. In 1946, she married Louis C. Spezia who preceded her in death in 1976.
Marie was a fantastic mother and wife. She loved to travel and to play golf. Marie was very artistic, doing decoupage, and was a beautiful seamstress.
For years she was the former owner and operator of Martigail Craft Shop in Utica.

Marie is survived by her two daughters, Mary (Carl) Whinter of Bloomfield Twp., Martha (Robert) Lashley of Chicago; two sons, Michael (Ann) Spezia of Suttons Bay, Mark (Kathleen) Spezia of Eliot, ME; two sisters, Virginia Runde of Huntington Woods, Alice DeBord of Texas; a brother, Jerry Stallman of Suttons Bay; six grandchildren, John, Sarah, Anne, Paul, Lauren and Robert.
Visitation will be held Thursday, Aug. 21, from 2 to 7 p.m., with the Rosary to be prayed at 7 p.m. at the Martinson Funeral Home of Suttons Bay. The Mass will be held Friday, Aug. 22, at 11 a.m. at St. Michael's Parish in Suttons Bay. Burial will follow in Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens, Traverse City.
Arrangements are with the Martinson Funeral Home of Suttons Bay.

My sympathy to all the family. I am the daughter of Hilda Stallman Gauthier, Marie's cousin. I believe I was named after Marie as she and my mother were very close. I wrote her a letter a few years ago but did not hear from her. Interesting that my mother , Hilda also lived to be 92! I remember Aunt Lorene and Uncle Willie well. My name is Marie (Gauthier)Boyle McCauley and now live in Florida. My sincerest condolances. A relative, Marie
