Michael T. Spezia, age 70, of Cable, WI passed away on Friday, December 27, 2024, at his home.
Michael Thomas Spezia was born July 2, 1954, in Danville, IL, the son of Ronald and Karen (Ross) Spezia. Mike was raised and attended school in Bismarck, IL where he was a multi-sport athlete. He accepted a track scholarship to Eastern Illinois University and after a year transferred to Minnesota State University-Moorhead where he had a basketball scholarship. Mike earned a degree in education from Moorhead University and then began teaching and coaching. Mike was married to Lynn Tovey and together they had two children before they separated. Mike left education and began a career in sales where he worked for Peoplease Corporation, in Covington, IN. On September 9, 1989, Mike united in marriage to Jamie Brooks in Georgetown, IL and together they were blessed with two sons. Mike worked up to Vice President of Sales for Peoples Lease Corporation before he and Jamie moved to Cable, WI in 2015. Mike became the manager of Lakewood's Forest Ridges Golf Course in Cable. Mike enjoyed hunting for deer, elk and turkey throughout his life. He also loved fishing for Musky and was honored to have won the Hayward Chapter-Muskies Inc. Fishing tournament and guided his brothers and wife to win the tournament also. Mike never met a stranger and always had a good story to tell.
Mike is survived by his wife of 35 years, Jamie; his four children, Gabe (Robin) Spezia of Westville, IL, Abbey (Matt) Spezia-Vice of Westville, IL, Anthony (Kate O'Keefe) Spezia of Duluth, MN, Alex Spezia of Cable, WI; three grandchildren; his father, Ron Spezia of Bismarck, IL; four siblings, Darla Knipe of Bismarck, IL, Todd (Lisa) Spezia of Danville, IL, Gary (Becky) Spezia of Bismarck, IL, Ronna Spezia of Danville, IL; special uncle, John Spezia; many nieces and nephews; his two English bulldogs, Pete and Wilber; and his lab, Brandy.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Karen.
A gathering will be held for Mike at a later date to be announced.
