He was born March 17, 1919, in Maple City, son of the late Charles Shimek Sr. and Bessie Vajner Shimek. Mr. Shimek was an Army Air Corps WWII veteran, having served as a Master Sgt.
His survivors include his loving wife of almost 60 years, whom he married on Oct. 30, 1948, Ruth E. Shimek of the home; son George Shimek Jr.; grandson Spencer John Shimek; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Shimek was the last survivor of his family, having been preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Bessie Rokos, Charles Shimek Jr. and Joe V. Shimek.
Services and interment will be held at a later date.
