Robert Malaguti Obituary

WALLINGFORD - Robert Ames Malaguti, Jr., 46, of Wallingford, died suddenly, Monday, July 20, 2009, while biking, one of his favorite passions.

Born in Meriden, May 15, 1963, Bobby was a brilliant tattoo artist and many wear the love of his art on their skin. The people that knew his tender heart carry his love within them, an indelible mark deeper than ink. He also adored German shepherds and rescued them one by one. He knew their fierce exterior, yet their loving hearts were much like his own. He drove around town often in his Toyota Land Cruiser with them by his side, all feeling the wind on their faces.

He leaves behind his loving mate, Samantha Shaw; his son, Bob; his daughter, Madyson; his mother, Kim Tefft Poggio; his siblings, Vincent Poggio and Marci Rizzo; his nephew, "Little Vin"; his father, Bob Sr.; and many relatives and close friends.

His family will receive relatives and friends in The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 N. Main St., Ext., Wallingford, Saturday, from 2 until 6 p.m. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home at 3 p.m. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, gifts in his memory may be made to the Wallingford Animal Shelter, 5 Pent Road, Wallingford, 06492. www.wallingfordfh.com.

I wish we had the chance to finish my left arm in 1995..nearly 30 years later, still untouched.
Crazy how the healthiest can go so early, while the wild life's live on.. be well in peace brother.. send me someone to work on my arm

When I was younger I can to Bob for a giant tattoo. He told me to go home and put it on my wall for a few months. He said if I still wanted it then, he´d do it. We´ll, 3 months later and I decided it was a little much for me. And although I still love Sublime, I´m so glad I didn´t have their logo on my chest! Instead my mom and I got matching tattoos and now that she´s gone I treasure it even more. I didn´t know Bob personally but remember the kindness he showed us and the big friendly dogs in the shop. I think of him and wonder how his family is. Thanks for the art, Bob.

I met Bob several times by chance up in Lyman Orchards. It was always at night and the stars always plentiful. He and his dogs, like my buddies and I, were there to gaze upward and wonder how it all came to be. We had several long conversations that I will never forget, despite the fact that I had never seen Bob's face in the daylight. One night, he came with biodegradable flying lanterns and sent them high into the sky, until they disappeared like specks into the vast darkness. He is a powerful memory that will forever linger, like the flame of a soaring lantern, in my mind.

I knew Bob from my time working at Starbucks in North Haven. We would see the Land Cruiser pull in to the parking lot and the cry would go out for a "Bob and Sam". The drinks would be waiting for him when he got to the counter. He was always fun to talk bikes with and was an all around decent guy. My prays and thoughts are with the family.

I knew his name from when I was a teen but didn’t meet him until December 2008. In a way he was a legend and when I met him I could see why. He was nice, funny, fun and real. He was one of those rare people who made immediate impact to those he met. He opened my eyes to a few things in such a very short time.

If he had this kind of impact on me in this short time, I can only imagine the difference he made to people he knew for longer. I hope the thoughts and prayers of the many people he has touched comforts his family at this sad time.
