Celeste,
My prayers are with you and your family.
Jimmy was much more than a dedicated newspaperman for many years. He was a true gentleman.

I have many fond memories of our time together while working at the Roanoke newspapers. I will cherish them forever.

Jimmy Thacker was a wonderful human being and a great boss. He was my first boss in the newsroom at the former Roanoke World-News and was understanding, but firm, and always had a great sense of humor. Jimmy believed in the finest traditions of journalism and family values. I am blessed to have worked with him and know he was blessed to have a partner like Celeste.
