James Brooks Obituary

James W. (Buster) Brooks, formerly of 115 Brooks Road, Pearisburg, Va., died on Saturday, October 25, 2008, at the Oaks of Carolina in Raleigh, N.C. Mr. Brooks was born to the late William Jefferson Brooks and Bessie Seals in Prospect Dale, Va., on March 10, 1914. Mr. Brooks moved to Raleigh in March to be near his daughter, Gail Brooks Colbert. Mr. Brooks was predeceased by his beloved wife, Thelma Jamison Brooks; two brothers; two sisters; and his son-in-law, William B. Colbert Sr. He leaves to celebrate his long, productive and happy life, his daughter, Gail Brooks Colbert; two grandsons, Jeffrey Louis Colbert and William B. Colbert Jr. (Tara Spencer); four greatgrandsons, Donovan B., William B. III (Trey), Joshua R. and Travian A., all of Raleigh, N.C.; and a large extended family of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Funeral services will be held 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 1, 2008, at the First Baptist Church in Pearisburg, Va. with burial following in the Brooks Family Cemetery. Services entrusted to Lightner Funeral Services, Raleigh, N.C., and Penn Funeral Services, Pulaski, Va.
