Dollie Viola English

Dollie Viola English, 98, of Roanoke, passed away Thursday, November 6, 2008. She was born August 26, 1910, in Vinton, Va., to the late John Curtis Haskins Sr. and Mamie Ellen Curtis Haskins. She was the Mother of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church. Dollie was preceded in death by two husbands, James Caldwell and Robert English; three sons, James "Buttercup", Earnest and Clarence "Chicken" Caldwell Sr.; four brothers and two sisters. Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Dorothy Caldwell Johnson, Bloomfield, N.J.; grandsons, Carlton (Vernelle), Victor (Chenita), Clarence Jr., all of Roanoke, and David Caldwell, of Cocoa Beach, Fla.; granddaughters, Natalie, Sharon Kay, both of Roanoke, Teresa, of Orlando, Fla., Linda Caldwell and Angela Johnson , both of Bloomfield, N.J.; niece, Barbara Ivy, Buffalo, N.Y.; sister-in-law, Eleanor Haskins, Roanoke; cousin, Louise Thompson, Roanoke; a host of great-grandchildren, greatgreat-grandchildren, friends and a dedicated caregiver, Connie Randall. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, November 11, 2008, in the Hamlar-Curtis Chapel with the Rev. Thomas Pleasant officiating. The interment will be in Mt. Moriah Baptist Church Cemetery.
