Hildred Rhodes

Hildred (Tillie) Rhodes, 87, of Roanoke, Va., passed away Wednesday, November 19, 2008. Tillie was born September 1, 1921, in Pleasant Valley, Va. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leon and Elsie Smith; her brother, Millard Smith; and her sister, Janet Neas. Her surviving family includes her loving husband of 58 years, Raymond C. (Rocky) Rhodes; sisters, Wanda Morris, of San Diego, Calif., Mary Liskey and husband, Charles, of Dayton, Va., Iona Pitts, of Westminster, Md.; a son, Ronald Rhodes and wife, Dreama, of Roanoke, Va.; daughters, Donna Ingram and husband, Johnny, of Roanoke, Va., Linda Pharr and husband Bob, of Hickory, N.C., and Nancy Tucker and husband, Eddie, of Roanoke, Va.; nine grandchildren and five greatgrandchildren. She was a retired nurse who worked at Lewis Gale Hospital in Salem, Va., and Springmoor Retirement Home in Raleigh, N.C. She was a long time member of Windsor Hills Baptist Church. The family will receive friends at Oakey's South Chapel. 4257 Brambleton Ave. S.W., Roanoke, Va. 24018 from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday. Funeral services will be conducted at Oakey's South Chapel at 2 p.m. Saturday, November 22, 2008. The Rev. C. Lawrence Dodson will officiate. Interment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.
