Dear Hoyt Family:
What a legacy Cecil has left behind! He set the example of giving...he gave of himself to the community for the benefit of others. He will be remembered with great fondness for his love of family, his many talents, quick wit, love of kids & sports and love of all things Botetourt!

Dear Hoyt family,
I'm so very sorry to read of Cecil's passing. Though I had not seen him since moving to Roanoke Co. many years ago, I will never forget him! I grew up and went to school with Cecil III, and remember his father being ever present in his life, as well as with the other children. He touched so many lives that he may need some help in Heaven to lug around that crown of many jewels! My sister also remembers his giving ways. When she was in High School, (she's 55), she sang in the talent show, and he was there to accompany her on guitar.
He was truly a blessing to so many people during his time here on Earth. I recall times when he didn't have two nickels to rub together (like alot of us then), but he never hesitated to lend a helping hand to anyone in need, never asking for anything in return.
I pray that God comforts you and gives you peace during this sorrowful time.
With love,
Cinaé (Bowyer) Morgan

Cecil was an amazing man. As with so many others, we met on the soccer field but I got to know him better when I volunteered at Troutville ES. We'd talk over the cooler as I gathered snacks for the kids. He had so many incredible life stories that were both entertaining and enlightening. One thing that always stood out about Cecil was his love for and dedication to his children. He is truly a Botetourt County icon and will be missed by many people. We will keep your family in our prayers.

The Hoyt Family,
My deepest thoughts and prayers are with you all during this time of great sorrow as you deal with the passing of sweet Cecil. My daughter went to Troutville Elem. and I coached in Botetourt county as well. He was a man of his word and you could always count on him. He used to come to Scotts Thrift Store to work on the alarm system when it was needed and he never let me down when I worked there. What a joy he was for the children playing sports, that is what he loved. I will miss him and my prayers will be with you always. Godspeed

Our family has know Cecil for many years. We first met him through the Botetourt County Rec. Department like so many others. I, however, also worked with him while I was teaching at Troutville. I had the pleasure of teaching many of Cecil's children and he was a very loving father. Children were definitely important to him and he was always interested in ways to help them. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you in this time of sorrow.

Cecil will never know how much he meant to our family. He was such a special person and one of the best friends anyone could have asked for. He will be truly missed and will be loved forever. He was one of the best people anyone could have ever met. He was a magnificent addition to the Botetourt Rec. Department and an indispensable person to Troutville Elementary. He was just wonderful. We will miss him and always remember him fondly.

Cecil was such a character! He made us laugh everyday in the Troutville "car rider line" with his wit and superb use of sarcasm. His lines "are we havin any fun yet" and "come back when I have more money" were classics. We still enjoy watching the video of a Troutville Variety show we purchased from him. What a card. When we think of our days in Troutville Va. we think of Cecil and his cases of Coke. Rest in peace my friend.

Cecil was truly a special person who seemed to want to make others feel better as a part of his daily mission. I will remember him as the 1/2 musketeer in Attic's "3-1/2 Musketeers". I played his girlfriend, Custard and since that day have called him my boyfriend. I will miss hearing him sing and play the piano and most of all his smile. He was a blessing to so many in our area and will be missed greatly.

Cecil was a home town name that always came up when you thought of sports in Botetourt county. I don't know of anyone who has served longer. My memory of Cecil goes back to 1982. He did it with a compassionate heart for the kids. He was kind and considerate in all his ways. God Bless him and his family. He will be missed by hundreds of people. I pray that God will comfort the family at this time.

The ball fields and basketball courts of Botetourt will be empty without the presence of Cecil. As a man he never had a cross word to say about any one and always offered encouragement. Cecil was all about the kids of the community and their best interest was always his first priority. He touched many lives, and he will be greatly missed.

I wish to convey my heartfelt sympathy to each of you during this difficult time. Cecil was a thoughtful person who really took an interest in his own children and their sports activities, as well as caring about other children in our County. He seemed to really enjoy umpiring, referring or whatever else he could do to help with the sports. I know there are a lot of videos of his children playing basketball because I saw him at the games with his video camera. Cecil will be missed but you can find comfort in knowing he is no longer suffering. May God Bless You!
