Joanne (and family),
I was utterly heartbroken when I found out about Willie's passing. I remember meeting you all and you all made me feel like part of the family from the beginning. I'll miss him just like I miss all of you now. You all have my deepest condolences. Just remember it's not about mourning your loss, but celebrating his life.

It was such a shock to find out about Mr. Kiser today.
My thoughts and prayers go out to all the family for your great loss.
Nothing, of course, can take away the sorrow for the loss of a loved one, especially a special fellow like Willie. He welcomed me into his home when he didn't have to and treated me like family. He was a unique guy and I will be forever grateful for his kindness.

In My Pocket
I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.
My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.
They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.
Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.
But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.

It is such a loss for anyone who had met Willie not to have learned something......anything. Willie had a way of teaching that made you unaware it was happening. My brother-in-law was nothing short of unique and loving and fun and a man who knew a bit about everything. Willie wanted only the best for his family and friends, and did his best to see to it. Unending spirit and energy was his trademark and his love for his family and friends undaunting. Keeping his zest for life, it rubbed off on anyone he came into contact with, and I am sure that many of us got a piece of it. I will miss him, I loved him and looked up to him, and got to do many new experiences because of him.. never to be forgotten, he was one of a kind for sure!

Joanne & family,
It was such a shock to hear about Willie. I only found out this past week-end. He just sat down at my desk about 2 weeks ago & chatted about getting ready for Christmas. He was always laughing about something & had a smile on his face. We will sure miss him at the bank. Need anything, please call.

My dear Joanne and families... I will miss Willie as you all do. His wonderful sense of humor and his knowledgeable insight will be missed by all who knew him. I remember as a child him telling us the reason that his hair went so far back at the temples was that he had been dehorned. There are so many things that he was there for it would be impossible to even begin to count them all. God Bless you and keep his memories in your hearts.

Monica, Jason, Mitchell, and family,
We are so very, very sorry to hear about your dad, your grandpa, your husband.
Here is a poem by Mary Frye that was read at a childhood friend's funeral over 20 yrs ago and had brought comfort to our broken hearts. It reminded me that our loved ones are always alive in our memories. I pray it will do the same for you.
Love,
Your family in Rhode Island
Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there; I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sun on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there; I did not die.

Dear Kiser Family:
We are so saddened by Willie's passing. Rob and I saw him not too long ago at Walmart, and got to catch up a little. He was always the same whenever we saw him...that big smile that never left his face!
The kids have wonderful memories of him at ballgames. They really got to know him as Jason & Mitchells grandad, and through Teresa & Monica taking them hiking when we were neighbors in Botetourt.
Joanne, Willie was one of a kind and you all have our deepest sympathy. He will be missed by many.

Joanne, Teresa, Monica, Jason, Mitchell, Stephanie and Nathan, We were all sad to hear about Willie"s sudden passing. What a great man he was. He would give you the shirt off his back. What a great time Jamie and Jeanie would have up on the mountain. The best part of the saturday sleepovers at Teresa's was the Sunday pancake breakfast Willie would make. He always made sure to send Jamie home with a few pancakes for later. I was lucky enough to observe the pancake master and he even shared his recipe with me.I have tried several attempts to duplicate Willie's recipe but I have been unsuccessful. Jamie always says they are close but not Willie's. Must have been the special charm that Willie had. He will be greatly missed by this family. So we send out our heartfelt love and prayers to your family. Hope to see you all sometime soon. Love, Jean, Fred, Jamie and Jeanie Donaldson

Grandpa Willie,
Although we didn’t get real close, we did get to know each other pretty well throughout the past few years. You were by far the smartest man, that I ever knew. Many times we would talk about certain subjects, and your intelligence on certain things, I always found astonishing. You were just a great role model to us all. Although I still think I am right about our biggest dispute, (that is, placing peanut butter on pancakes isn’t very appetizing), I will now eat it every once in a while in remembrance of you. You always knew how to make us laugh, and smile. I remember the time, that we just had a little drive through out the property, and just chatting. So many wonderful memories I will have to cherish, from a Sunday morning, with you fixing your “one of a kind” pancakes. And let us not for get the many games you kept score of, with your red shirt and red hat. I learned more from the game from you, then I could have ever on my own. Its these fun memories I will always remember.
To the family, I extend my condolences, throughout your time of mourning. Only time will heal the pain, and even then its not completely. Although we all will miss his earthly body, he is never but a heart beat away. The times of joy and happiness will always keep him in your hearts-- close to you. May you find comfort in persistent prayers, as “the peace of God that excels all thought will guard your heart and your mental powers.” [Phil. 4:7] We have lost a great man, a man that will be missed by all that be encountered.
“Although you will be missed, you dear sweet man, you will surly never be forgotten. Wait for us all at the gates of heaven, for we will someday meet again. Go now, and rest in peace.”

What a wonderful brother-in-law!
His great sense of humor, strong love for his family, intelligence, generosity, and creativity will be missed. Willie had a quest for life that was always changing and that in itself drew in so many people. His life was big, interesting, and he never surprised us when a new hobby or challenge came about. He was always good at what ever he did.
There are so many good times I remember as a little sister of Joanne. He made us all laugh and look forward to our trips to their homes in Kansas City, Miami, and his final home in Virginia. He loved the outdoors, whether it meant spending time out on his boat in Florida, hiking anywhere, or taking care of his "mountain". He shared all of this with his family and friends, this I think was one of his great joys.
He was a bundle of energy always! Driving us crazy sometimes. But it was exactly this that made him successful and how he was able to find time to touch so many lives.
So, my dear Willie (the toothless wonder) keep those dice rolling and the Ethiopian beer flowing.
A big bear hug,
Paulette

Auntie Joanne, Teresa, Monica, and all
Where does one start when talking about Uncle Willie! I'll remember seeing his service picture when I was little (not really knowing who he was) and then he came home and I thought ...that isn't Uncle Willie--he doesn't have a square head like the picture.(lol) But was he ever a busy guy--loved to go to the canyons and castle rock.
Then as I grew older I found out he was pretty smart too... and onery...and could do just about anything(and would too).
Jim really enjoyed him when you guys would come out and he would go out to our farm and have a good time. The girls got to know him when you guys had come out and they stayed home with you being in charge. They loved him ever since.
I don't believe there wasn't anything that he couldn't do and enjoy most of it while he was doing it! We will all miss him and want you to know that you are always in our prayers.
Love, Linda & Jim

Joanne, Monica and Teresa,
We are so sorry to hear of your loss. Patty met Willie in 1984 and Theresa in 1986 at the DEA Southeast Laboratory. He taught us not to let anyone dictate how we act, to never change because someone is being mean or not speaking to us. He took the time to educate us on the science of drug types and their effects. We will never forget his trees and mangos in Miami. He was proud of his trees and when Hurricane Andrew came and messed them up, he was mad but he never let it stop him from being the wonderful man that he was. We’ll never forget the love he had for his wood work. Patty still has many of his creations. Joanne we would like to thank you for allowing us to be a part of your extended family. We miss all the great parties at your home in Miami, the baked bread loaves you sent to work for us and the motherly nurturing you always gave to us.
God Bless and know that you all are always in our prayers,
Elizabeth (Liz) Foster

Joanna, Monica and Theresa,
My heart felt condolences go out to you and your family on your loss. Willie was my mentor when I first arrived at DEA in 1979. He is still a fixture here even though is has been retired for sometime. My memories of Willie and your family hold a special place in my heart and I feel your pain. My fondness memories are of the fishing and snorkling trips with Willies and I will treasure them forever. Oh yes and who can forget the Halloween getups! Again my deepest sympathies go out to all of you.

We are so sorry to hear about Uncle Willie. It was always an exciting time when you all came out to the farm or wherever we were and you came!! We were so grateful when you came up to DC to watch Keisha play soccer and take us around. I wished we could have spent more time as Uncle Willie was such a history buff--who would need a history book!!! You all are in our thoughts and prayers. We love you. I met Willie in March 07' and he gave more than I could ever ask for, a start to Life on my own. He has been a part of my life that I will remember forever. He has been the best neighbor in the world and a great idol. In the short 9 months that I have known Willie and Joanne they have become family. He was genuine one of a kind man that could never be replaced. And My Thoughts and prayers are with all of you!

Aunt Joanne, Monica, Teresa and Nate, Jason, Mitchell and family:
I am so sorry. I loved him very much. We loved visiting you in Miami and in VA. I remember when I was little he visited us when he was in school at Hays. And then staying with you in Kansas City, now that was exciting. He never let grass grow under his feet and he always had something new to keep him interested. I remember meeting a professor here at K-State, and somehow the conversation moved around to Uncle Willie. The professor said, there was no better chemist and his machine than Willie Kiser.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you now and always.
Love to all, and we are better people for having known him,

My wife and I met Willie and Joanne in Miami 1989. They welcomed our oldest son (Tommy) into their home and fish pond when he was sick and we didn't know anyone in the area. Throughout the years, Willie was our training officer (with the DEA), colleague ( when they moved to Roanoke) and more importantly, friend (the entire time). Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time of unexpected loss. He was one of a kind and will be greatly missed.
