I live a few states away, but my mother immediately emailed me to tell me about your loss. I guess Hardy Road kids stay close, regardless of the time that has ticked away. I feel for you, and we pray for you and your family.

I'm one of Kenny's next door neighbors, and this was a huge, and upsetting loss for us. My brother and I would go over there a lot as little kids, and sometimes my brother would help him mow the yard. My heart and prayers go out to Kim, Betty, and the rest of his family and friends. He was a very good man, and he will always be remembered.

Remember with a smile all of the little things that meant much to you over the years, especially his smile. Do not mourn his loss...instead, celebrate his life.

Kimberly you have my thoughts and prayers and I just hope that you find a way to deal with the grief that I know you must be feeling. To lose your Dad is horrible. I know how many great memories that house held for you. I wish there was something I could say or do to take away your pain but unfortunately there isn't. Your Dad made the best BBQ and Spaghetti Sauce. He will be missed.

Kim, we will always remember the good times when you were a little girl and your mom, Sandra and I would get together when the firemen were on duty. Also all the get togethers with all of us. You were so loved by your mom and dad. Your dad talked about how proud of you he was just recently when he stopped by the house. He ate salt fish with David(Slim) and some other firemen at Greenwood Restaurant about 2 weeks ago. He seemed to be happy and enjoyed the time with his friends. He was a good person. I know you will miss him and if we can do anything for you, just let us know. Nancy and David Hamblin

Kenny was not only a great firefighter but also a great Navy Veteran. For many years he always treated me like family. I can still remember hearing him play "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" on the banjo at Galax when I was a kid. I will also always remember all the stories we shared about our days in the Navy. Althought you wil be sadly missed , I know that you are now part of that Rainbow in the sky. Rest In Peace "Boat's".

I was just going through some old pictures last week and found some of Kenny. So many great memories and stories we have shared.
Anytime there was good pickin', Kenny was either making it or supporting it. I'll never forget when he won 1st place Banjo at Galax and the celebration after. That was just one of many good times. To Betty T and Kenny's family, my thoughts and prayers are with you.

great musician...will always remember the "Dreadful Snakes" from the old Bent Mtn Bluegrass Festivals. I am grateful I got to play music with and get to know Kenny years later. His memory will live as long as bluegrass is played. One of the best.
