I was so sad to hear this news from my Mom. Gene was always there to help us when we needed something, which was quite often. :) I will keep each of you in my thoughts and prayers. Miss you guys...from your former next door neighbor...

To the Wright Family,
Four years ago when I first came to Coopers Cove, I met Ray Walter who insisted that I accompany him to Don Hornes on Thurs night. The next person I met was Gene Wright who made me feel very welcome and shared some of his stories. From then on I knew I made the correct decision to move to Coopers Cove. I will forever remember Gene for his kindness. I am very saddened by your loss.

Peggy, we are Wednesday night folks too, and we will miss Gene very much - he was the first smiling face we saw when we got there, and always had some friendly words or stories to share.
Fondly, Barry and Susan Palmer

We were so sorry to learn of Gene's passing. We were blessed to have known Gene and know what a "wonderful" husband, father and grandfather he was....he will be greatly missed, but will be forever within our hearts. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of the family. Virgil, Lisa, Paula Ferguson

Dear Peggy & Family,
We are going to miss our next door neighbor, for he was such a blessing to be around. Gene was genuine to the core, and he always gave of his time and labor to those in need. I remember well the time he and my husband spent hours cutting and splitting a monster tree on our property.
We are here for you, Peggy and Leslie. God bless you all.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the Wright family at Gene's passing. I had the privilege of knowing and working with Gene for many years, and I too, share in your loss. Truly a friend to all and a stranger to none.

Dear Peggy and family, I worked with Gene at C&P/Bell Atlantic on Oakland Blvd in Roanoke. Gene retired just four years before I did. He was a loving, caring family man and a hard worker, but loved to tell you a good story in a heart beat. Always had a smile for everyone. He will surely be missed by many people. My husband Henry and I are sadden by his passing. We are keeping you Peggy and all your family in our prayers. Our deepest sympathy goes out to each of you.

Peggy, Terry and Leslie,
We love you guys very much! There wasn't a time since I was a baby that Gene didn't grab me up as soon as I walked in the room and kiss me on the cheek. I loved his 'scary voice' that he always try to make us listen with when we were little. He will be loved and remembered. I know Granny was waiting on him with open arms!
Love you all!

Family...we were saddened to hear of the passing of an ole telephone company peer and friend. I am a much better person today having crossed paths with this very caring man. Gene was always there to lend a helping hand to anyone that needed one. May God just wrap His loving arms around this family during this time and smother you in His love, strength and comfort. May you draw even closer together as a family and we pray that in time God will mend the hole you now have in your hearts. Always hold Gene's fond memories close to your heart and cherish every moment that you had with him. May God bless you always.

Gene was, more than anything, one of a kind. Gene loved a good conversation and he knew a lot. Friendship oozed out of him. He was a wonderful Dad and Granddad. Everyone who knew him will miss him; equally, everyone who knew him will remember him. I am very sad that we won't hear from Gene any longer in this life but look forward to hearing from him again in the Kingdom of God.
