Dora C. Ramsey

Mrs. Dora C. Ramsey, 88, of 4574 Piney Road, Gretna, Va., passed away on Monday morning, March 9, 2009, at Riverside Health & Rehab. Center in Danville. Born February 3, 1921, in Pittsylvania County, she was the daughter of the late Edgar and Daisy Clark. She was twice married, first to the late Howard Ramsey and secondly to the late Kermit Ramsey. Mrs. Ramsey was a homemaker and a member of Piney Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Gretna, Va. Surviving are one daughter, Flossie Wilson (Kenneth), of Cascade, Va.; two sons, James Ramsey, (Nannie), of Blacksburg, Va., and Wallace Ramsey, of Roanoke, Va.; one brother, Chester Clark, of New York; two grandsons; three granddaughters; and other relatives. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Gladys Ramsey Pace; a son, Wayne Ramsey; two sisters, Maggie Matthews and Mary C. Smith; and five brothers, Freeman, Oscar, Walter, Zebedee and Frank Clark. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. on Thursday, March 12, 2009, at Piney Grove Missionary Baptist Church by the Rev. Isaac Monroe with interment in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening, March 11, 2009, from 7 to 8 p.m. Miller Funeral Home, Gretna, Va., is in charge of arrangements.
