Charles Fisher Obituary

Charles Thomas (Tommy) Fisher, 54, of Christiansburg passed away, Friday, August 28, 2009. Tommy was employed with Virginia Tech for over 20 years with the CNS Department. He was a member of Edgewood Methodist Church and was an active member of the Pearisburg Volunteer Fire Department. His hobbies were reading, restoring old cars, gardening at home, boating and fishing. He was the son to the late, Charles Leroy Fisher. He is survived by his wife, Susan Jean Fisher; mother, Velma Galliher Fisher; children, Christy Camacho, David and Dawn Camacho; grandchildren, Zachary Camacho and Braxton Camacho; mother-in-law, Helen Elswick. Also surviving are Cindy and John Stone, Linda and Ted Bolen, Joe and Vickie Elswick, along with other extended family and friends who were involved in his life. He will also be missed by his furry companions, especially Junior, whom he deeply loved. The family will receive friends at the Horne Funeral Home, Monday, August 31, 2009 from 5 to 8 p.m. The funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 1, 2009 in the Horne Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor James Bradley and Dr. Fred Austin officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Online condolences may be sent by visiting www.HorneFuneralService.com. Flowers are appreciated, however those wishing to make a memorial contribution, please consider the Pulaski County Humane Society, P.O. Box 1046, Pulaski, VA 24084. The family is being served by Horne Funeral Home, Christiansburg.

I was so saddened to hear of Tommy's passing. I knew him from my work at Va Tech over the last ten years and he was someone I always looked forward to seeing on my visits to CNS. He was a true gentleman that always welcomed you with a warm handshake and a smile. Godspeed, Tommy.

I worked in the same building with Tommy for years and thought the world of him. He was a friend and a very thoughtful and careing person.
