Cecil Bean Obituary

Cecil Lloyd Bean Sr., 77, of Christiansburg, Va., went to be with the Lord on September 15, 2009. Cecil was a highly decorated Vietnam Veteran including two Purple Hearts. He was a faithful member of Christiansburg Baptist Church and a member of the American Legion Post #59. He is survived by his wife, Carroll Dalton Bean, of Christiansburg; two sons, Cecil Bean Jr. and his wife, Colleen, of Pulaski, and Steven Bean, of Christiansburg; eight grandchildren, Alyssa, Cheyenne, Grant, Brittany, Candace, Michael, Breanna and Alexis; and two greatgrandchildren, Trace and Leandra. He is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Gevnea Wells, of Shawsville, and Wilma Simmons, of Dublin; brotherin-law, Raymond and Mildred, of North Carolina; special friends; Laura Howard, of Christiansburg, and Dean Hogan, of Christiansburg; and several nieces and nephews also survive. The family wishes to express their thanks to the nurses and staff of Carilion Hospice for their tender care. The family will receive friends at the Horne Funeral Home on Thursday, September 17, 2009, from 5 to 8 p.m. The funeral service will be held 11 a.m. on Friday, September 18, 2009, at the Christiansburg Baptist Church with Pastor Aaron Smith and Pastor Leon Alley officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. The family requests in lieu of flowers, that memorial contributions be made to Christiansburg Baptist Church or Carilion Hospice, Radford. I'm sorry to hear of Cecil's passing. He was a dear friend of our family and he will be greatly missed. The last time I talked to Cecil he was telling me about how he was going to be in the Verteran's Parade riding in an antique car. He was very proud.
