Barbara D. (Bobbi) Thomas, 55, of Roanoke, Va., passed peacefully on Thursday, September 24, 2009, surrounded and loved by her family and friends after a year and a half battle with leukemia. She was an avid member of the Roanoke Valley Shag Club, enjoying dancing with her husband at their many events. She was also a member of the Roanoke Valley Board of Realtors. In her various jobs, as in her life, Bobbi had an ability to integrate the people that she met with her gracious and caring and spirit, including her caregivers at both Carilion Hospital in Roanoke and VCU/ MCV Hospital in Richmond. She never forgot a name or face. Bobbi loved to travel, was a consummate bargain hunter, talented decorator, excellent chef, and loving, giving person, Bobbi will remembered by many people for many qualities, including the way she approached her illness with courage and endurance, loving life until the very end. She will be sorely missed by her families, but will be ever present in spirit as both inspiration and example. The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 27, 2009, at Oakey's North Chapel between the hours of 2 and 5 p.m. Services will be held noon on Monday, September 28, 2009, at Oakey's North Chapel conducted by the Rev. Not sure what to say?

I speak for the entire congregation of Libby's adoptive "home church" when I say we are with your entire family as you suffer the loss of Bobbi.
I hope the last hours you were able to spend with her will be of comfort in years to come.
If there were any verse of comfort I would try to share it would be Psalm 27: 13 & 14 - I'm sure it exemplifies some of the love shared by your family:
I believe that I shall see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living! Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your hearts take courage; yea, wait for the Lord.
May Blessings of Peace be Yours,
Rev. Pamela Canzater Cheney
First Congregational Church, UCC\

Lyn and family:

Bobbi brought such a bright, cheerful glow to any room she walked in. She brought that same glow to my heart the day that I met her. I will miss her very much. I only wish that I would have been able to be there for her service. I know she is in great hands now. I will always remember the last moment that I spent with her and her contagious smile.

We are so sorry Bobbi didn't get her miracle. She was so optimistic when we last saw her at RMH and we talked about going to Vegas when she was better. God had other plans and another journey for her to take and now I'm sure she is healed and dancing in heaven.

With Deepest Sympathy,

My heart is so full. Bobbi was so full of life and so determined to beat this thing. We talked last week at MCV about the fun times we would have together next year when these bad days would be behind us. I saw the love her entire family has and how they all stood right by her side. My heart goes out to Lyn, Chris and the entire family. I will miss Bobbi.
