Cecil Basham Obituary

Cecil Louis Basham Sr., 87, of Roanoke, Va., passed away on Sunday, September 27, 2009. During World War II, he served in the United States Army. A longtime member of Huntington Court United Methodist Church, he was also a member of VFW Post #4522, Vinton and Williamson Road Masonic Lodge #163 AF&AM. Cecil retired from the Radford Arsenal of Hercules, Inc. Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Virginia Kessler Basham; son, Dr. C. Louis Basham, of Del Mar, Calif.; daughter, Dr. Teresa Basham Fleming and husband, Dr. William Fleming, of Virginia Beach; grandsons, Eric Fleming and Brian Fleming; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Basham was predeceased by brothers, Tommy, Jesse, Donald and Mack; and sisters, Mary and Clara Belle. Memorials may be made to Huntington Court United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 5066, Roanoke, Va. 24012. Funeral services will be held noon on Friday, October 2, 2009, at Oakey's North Chapel. The Rev. Russell Cheatham will officiate. Interment with Military Honors by the U.S. Army and Masonic Rites by Williamson Road Lodge #163 will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, October 1, 2009, at Oakey's North Chapel, 540-362-1237.
