Michael Quesenberry Obituary

Michael Edward Quesenberry, 52, of Riner, Va., beloved son, father, grandfather, brother and friend, passed away on Monday, September 28, 2009. Michael grew up in Riner and after graduating from Auburn High School in 1975, spent the rest of his life in the area because of how much he loved it and the community. He was a friend to almost every person he came across, always willing to lend a helping hand and he touched more lives than he was aware of.
Preceding him in death was his mother, Shirley Chafin Quesenberry. He was survived by his father and stepmother, Frank E. and Linda Quesenberry, of Christiansburg; and sister and brother-in-law, Deborah and Scott Segrest, of Atlanta. Michael, "Mike" to many, is also survived by his son, Lucas E.; daughter and son-in-law, Lacey and Mark Levy; and his granddaughter, "Pawpaw's little fighter," Krystlen Grace.
While he spent most of his time in a big rig, his heart was always with the ones he loved and held closest to him. He enjoyed spending time on the farm with his Dad, fixing up the Duster with his son, and spending Saturday mornings with "his girls." He will be missed by many and forgotten by no one.
The family will receive guests at Horne Funeral Home in Christiansburg from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, October 1, 2009. The funeral will be held 2 p.m. on Friday, October 2, 2009, at Horne Funeral Home. Internment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Online condolences may be sent to the family by visiting www.HorneFuneralService.com. The Quesenberry family is being served by Horne Funeral Service, Christiansburg, Va.

Lucas, Lacey, and family,

Im very sorry for your loss. I know that Mike loved each and every one of you very much. It had been a while since I had seen Mike. I remember the fun times back when we were kids at the house at birthday parties and how much fun we all had! It is the good times and memories we as family should keep in our hearts. We should never take one moment together as a family for granted and try to make more time with each other as much as possible. If you need anything please let me know.

Your cousin,

Becca

To the Quesenberry Family:

Like others who have signed this guest book, I went to school with Mike at Auburn, where we graduated together in 1975. Although I hadn't seen him since then, I have many great memories of him. It's hard to imagine him gone at only 52. I remember Mike as a sweet, caring guy. From reading the obituary, it seems he grew to be a wonderful man, too, with much love for his family. I particularly appreciate that he stayed in Riner, and loved the farm and his daddy.

God bless you all.

Extending my sympathy during this time of loss, and beyond. While I did not really know Mike, his father worked at Imperial Reading for a long time, and so I knew a bit about how proud his Frank was of his family.

It hurts to hear and to have to acknowledge that we have lost Mike. Memories flood my head and I smile. Mike always was the one to crack a joke or try to keep things on the light side when we would go through life's growing pains. I loved him and will miss him.
My thoughts and prayers are with you all! He will be missed by so many!

Debbie,
I can't be there for the visitation but please know I am so sorry to hear of Mike's passing. I don't think I can remember a time that he wasn't smiling or trying to make someone else smile. You will be in my prayers.
