Edith Edwards-Thompson Obituary

On Wednesday, October 21, 2009, Edith EdwardsThompson, of Roanoke, Va., went home to be with her Heavenly Father. She was born on June 1, 1929, in Galax, Va., the daughter of the late Herbert Wilburt Edwards and Love Ellen Mittman. Emeritus Deaconess Thompson was a devout Christian and a life-long member of Central Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 63 years, Preston Thompson Jr.; son, Alfred Christopher Thompson; sister, Dorothy Hale; and niece, Carol Gunn. She is survived by her six children, Linda (Allen) Tucker, Arthur Edward (Mollie) Thompson, Patsy Thompson, Betty Wheaton, Jacqueline (Fred Sadler) Mobley, and Robert Preston (Karma) Thompson; five grandchildren, Christi Wheaton-Bristol, Tomerra Dominic Macauley, Kimberly Bonds, Angela (Paul) Montella, and Brian Thompson; eight greatgrandchildren; and one greatgreat-grandson. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 27, 2009, at Central Baptist Church with the Rev. Joseph A. Keaton officiating. The interment will be in the Central Baptist Church Cemetery in Body Camp, Va. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service. Friends may call on Monday afternoon, October 26, 2009, for viewing at Hamlar-Curtis Funeral Home. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.Hamlar-Curtis.com.
