Betty Davis Obituary

Betty Ann Davis, of Rocky Mount, Va., and formerly of Bassett, Va., died on Thursday, November 5, 2009, at Trinity Mission of Rocky Mount after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Henry County on July 11, 1930, to James Henry Davis and Annie James Draper Davis. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, James Henry Davis Jr. and Douglas Earl Davis. She is survived by her sister, Eunice D. Finney, of Rocky Mount; and her brothers, Andrew M. Davis and wife, Goldie, of Ferrum, Billy I. Davis and wife, Era, of Martinsville, and Curtis V. Davis and wife, Joyce, of Axton. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews; and her friends at Tanyard Village. Betty Ann will be remembered for her easy laughter and quick wit; as well as her love of her four legged friends, Blackie and Lightning. Throughout the years, she spent time as a companion to the elderly, living with and taking care of them. Betty Ann was of the Baptist faith. The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of Trinity Mission for their care of Betty Ann in her final days and hours. The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 8, 2009, from 4 to 6 p.m. at CollinsMcKee-Stone Funeral Homes, Martinsville Chapel and other times at the home of her sister, Eunice D. Finney, 1115 Robin Ridge Road, Rocky Mount. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. on Monday, November 9, 2009, at CollinsMcKee-Stone Funeral Homes, Martinsville Chapel with the Rev. George Hearn officiating. Interment will follow in Henry Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the American Cancer Society, 2840 Electric Road, #106, Roanoke, Va. 24018; the SPCA, 132 Joseph Martin Hwy., Martinsville, Va. 24112 or to a charity of your choice.
