Mary Marshall Obituary

Mary Blankenship Marshall, 83, of Hillsville, Va., passed away on Thursday, November 5, 2009, at Golden Living Center Blue Ridge in Galax. She was born in Carroll County to the late James B. and Etta Quesenberry Blankenship in 1926; and was the widow of the late James Arville Marshall. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Vicki Marshall Burnette; and brother, Roscoe O. Marshall. Mrs. Marshall loved her relationship with her fellow employees and patrons at the Carroll County Library where she worked until March 2008. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Dianne Marshall, of Galax; granddaughter, Amy Burnette Ratcliffe, of Woodlawn; greatgranddaughter, Chevelle Faith Ratcliffe; and son-in-law, Jerry C. Burnette. A graveside service with burial following will be held 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 7, 2009, at North End Cemetery with Dr. Lawrence Childs officiating. The family will receive friends at VaughanGuynn-McGrady Chapel on Friday, November 6, 2009, from 6 until 8 p.m. Flowers would be appreciated; however, donations may be made to the Hillsville First Baptist Church, 1401 North Main Street, Hillsville, Va. 24343 or to the Carroll County Public Library, P.O.
