Blondine Martin Obituary

Blondine Odessa Martin, 67, of Boones Mill, Va., passed away Wednesday, November 18, 2009. She was born August 1, 1942 in Roanoke, to the late Matthew Taylor and Dorothy Jones Taylor. She was also preceded in death by her two brothers, George J. and John L. Jones. Blondine was a member of Green Temple Holiness Church, Wirtz, Va. for 30 years. Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 51 years, William Henry Martin, Boones Mill; children, Sarah (Jeremiah) Green, Wirtz, Va., William S. Martin, Rocky Mount, Carolyn (Gary) Brown and Robert W. (Patty) Martin, all of Roanoke; seven grandchildren, Jessica, Christina, Joshua, Isaiah, Michael, Danielle and Jeriah; great-grandchildren, Jianna and Joshua Jr.; siblings, Velma (Franklin) Moore and Barbara (Terry) Coleman; her beloved dog, Co Co.; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Monday, November 23, 2009, in the Hamlar-Curtis Chapel with the Rev. Robin Parker officiating. The interment will be in Franklin Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Sunday, November 22, 2009, at Hamlar-Curtis Funeral Home. Condolences may be sent to www.Hamlar-Curtis.com.

Mr. Martin and family,
I worked with "Blondie" (that is what she was known as at Tultex) for several years. She was always talking about her husband, children and grandchildren. I guess that is what made the people at Tultex so close, because that is what most of us talked about. My prayers and thoughts are with you all. God Bless each of you.

I am so sorry to hear of Blondine's passing. We were good friends at Tultex Corp. years ago. I have really missed her friendship and the kindness she showed towards others. She always talked about the love for her husband and children. My prayers and thoughts are with your family.
