Louise Martin Obituary

Louise Camper Martin, 90, of Roanoke, Va., died on Sunday, November 22, 2009. She was a member of Woodlawn United Methodist Church. She enjoyed working with the senior citizens at the Brambleton Avenue Center and with her friends in the home demonstration club. She loved cooking and sharing it with everyone. Louise was full of life and was dearly loved by family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Luther James Martin Jr.; a son, Ronald Michael Martin; her parents, Carl M. and Lula Booze Camper; sisters, Annie C. Buky and Grace C. Brannan; brothers, Warren G. Camper, Henry M. Camper, W. Berkley Camper, Charles (Pee Wee) Camper, and Donald E. Camper; and brother-in-law, Nelson R. Martin. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Edwin Lee and Ramona (Kay) Martin; granddaughters, Kathleen Lynn (Kathy) Martin, Kimberly Ann Guilliams and husband, Jason Guilliams; grandsons, Ryan Michael Martin and Christopher Michael West; and daughterin-law, Susan W. Martin. Mrs. Martin is also survived by her sisters and brothers-in-law, Frances C. Mundy, of Lakeland, Fla., Dorothy C. and Ray Breeden, of Buchanan, Va., Laura C. Compton, of Lakeland, Fla., Mary C. Houser, of Fairfield, Va., and Hugh Leon Brannan, of Troutville, Va.; brothers and sistersin-law, Lawrence C. and Ruth Camper, of Buchanan, Va., Joseph B. Camper, of Buchanan, Va., Paul B. (Doodle) and Caroline (Cat) Camper, of Roanoke, Va., and Larry B. and Helen Camper, of Lakeland, Fla.; sisters-in-law, Margaret Camper, of Roanoke, Phyllis Camper and Patty Ann Camper, both of Buchanan, and Ruth M. York and Ruby Y. Martin, both of Roanoke; brother-in-law and wife, Robert and Dorothy Martin; and many nieces and nephews. Services will be held 2 p.m. on Wednesday, November 25, 2009, at Oakey's South Chapel on Brambleton Ave. Dr. Louis M. Strickler and the Rev. Arthur Grant will officiate. Interment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Oakey's South Chapel from noon on Wednesday until funeral time at 2 p.m. Memorials may be made to Woodlawn United Methodist Church. Arrangements by Oakey's South Chapel, 540-989-3131.
