John Rippey Obituary

John Rippey Jr., 62, of Bedford, Va., passed away on Monday, December 14, 2009. Born on February 21, 1947, he was a son of Alpha W. Rippey and the late John Rippey Sr. John had retired from the Veteran Hospital in Salem with 27 years of service. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Joyce Rippey; two sons, John Rippey III, and David Rippey and his wife, Crystal. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Jayden, Sebastian and Kayla. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bedford Hospice Care, 815 Summit St., Bedford, Va. 24523. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. on Friday, December 18, 2009, at the D-Day Memorial in Bedford. The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 17, 2009, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Rippey home, 1188 Davis Mill Lane, Bedford, Va. Joyce and family,

I am so very sorry for your loss. I am so glad you and John were able to be together on your 40th wedding anniversary on Dec 12th! It's hard to be separated from your best friend after 40 years but please know that I am always just a phone call or short "walk across the yard" away.
