Stump Family,

I was very saddened to read about Doug's passing. He was a teacher, JV Football coach, and Varsity basketball coach of mine at Hillsville High School. I remember him fondly and still use some of the lessons I learned from him in my teaching and coaching career (now in my 36th year).
Please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers.

Doug and I grew up near each other at Bluff City. He was always such a fine person. I saw him this past summer at a filling station in Narrows. He was as friendly and nice as could be. I am proud to have known him. The family is in my prayers and yes we will all be with each other some day. Sincerely,Geraldine "Jerri" Stanley (Ratcliffe)
