Kyle M. Hemauer Obituary

Today was hard. It´s been 20 years and it felt like it all was yesterday. Thank you for being my friend. I think about you all the time brother. You were a bright light in a dark place.
To Kyle´s family: I´m not sure if you´ll get this or see this. I was at the Combat Outpost in Zabul, Afghanistan close to the same time when Kyle passed. I knew Kyle since Ft. Bragg, lead his memorial at FOB Lagman, Afghanistan and I´m one of the guys that carried him onto the plane at Kandahar for the ride home. If you ever want pictures of that outpost or want to know what it was like out there I would be glad to fill in some of the blanks I´m sure you all have to the best of my ability. Kyle will forever be remembered fondly by all who were lucky enough to know him. To know Kyle was to know kindness.

The Fort Snelling Memorial Chapel Foundation will be honoring your loved one at the non-denominational Christian Memorial Day Remembrance worship service at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, 26 May 2013. We will remember the casualties of the Global War on Terrorism from Minnesota … and the bordering states of Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin. Outside of the historic Fort Snelling Veterans Memorial Chapel will be a “Memorial Garden” filled with some 300 white crosses bearing the names of the war dead … including your loved one.

The Memorial Garden will be encircled with larger white crosses representing all of the wars of our nation's history and give honor to all who have served in the United States Armed Forces and made the ultimate sacrifice for the freedoms we enjoy today. Wreaths will be placed at the foot of each 8-foot cross bearing the number of U.S. Service Members killed in each of America's conflicts.

I would like to extend to your family an invitation to honor us with your presence at worship as we pay tribute to the sacrifice made by your service member and family. Our pastor, Kenneth L. Beale, Jr., will preach a message entitled, “Freedom:Free, but Costly.” At the conclusion of the worship hour, all of the congregation will be invited to silently pay their respects at the garden and there place poppies at each of the crosses. A Memorial Rifle Squad of the Fort Snelling National Cemetery will fire vollies as the US flag is lowered to half-staff and Taps is played. Following your visit to the Memorial Garden, your family is invited to attend an informal reception (weather permitting) outside of the Chapel. The Memorial Garden will remain until 5:00 p.m. on Monday, 27 May (Memorial Day).

As this Christian worship service has traditionally been well attended, we would be happy to reserve seating for you and yours. I don't pretend to know what to say or do that would bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.

Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.

I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON (KIA on 07/06/07) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

Not a day rarely goes by where I don’t think of you in some way. You are greatly missed. You are my favorite cousin and always will be. Family get things like Christmas aren’t the same when your not there. Hanging out playing football or video games. We always were able to relate and had things in common even though you are like 5 years older than me. What they are saying on about you on the news and in the paper recently is wrong. We all know you didn’t. We will fight and get to the bottom of this. I have all the respect for you and for how you served your country. You’re my hero.

To the family of Kyle Hemauer. I am deeply sorry for your loss. Kyle sounds like a remarkable young man and an awesome Marine!. Let your pride in him carry you through this difficult time. I pray that God will send comfort to you all. I lost my son in Alanbar, Iraq and every day, it seems like a really bad dream and I just want to wake up and find out that he is alive but he is in a better place and at peace, like your son, guarding the gates of heaven. Kyle was my roomate before he was deployed to Afghanistan.



I just found out about his death today, when I asked his supervisor at the shipyard if he'd heard anything about Kyle.



I didn't believe it until I came home and Googled him.



To his parents:



I am SO sorry for your loss. Kyle was a GREAT guy, and you, when you came by to help him from all that distance, were GREAT and loving parents. I'm sure that you would like to know that Kyle told me before he left that if anything happened to him, to tell his parents that he appreciated them and loved them, and hoped that you would be proud of him.



He was always softspoken. He never became mad at anyone, even when they took advantage of him. Often, I would tell him to stick up for himself, or people would walk all over him. He shared cigarettes with me, went to movies with my family, watched my kids while my wife and I went to the movies every Friday, and was THE perfect picture of a gentleman.



A kinder, gentler guy I have never met, and I will never meet again. I still have his shipyard badge here next to my computer, waiting for the day he came back to the shipyard so that he wouldn't have to spend another $5 to get another one. Now, it still sits there, waiting for him to come home. I will be happy to give it back to you, Mr and Mrs Hemauer, because he truly has gone Home. kyle was like my brother, i will miss him. My heart goes out to all of Kyle's family

I dated Kyle when he was living in Virginia. When I heard that he died, I almost fell in the floor and still to this day have a hard time believing it. In this case, I have no idea what to say to his family except how deeply sorry I am. I wish the best for his family and hope that they can get through this tragedy as best they can. I'll miss you Kyle. And also, I'd like to send a thank you to Kyle's parents for letting me have the opportunity to get to know such a remarkable person.

Kyle was a great guy to kno and to date he will always be remembered in my heart as one a kind guy. my deepest sympathys go out to his family. and kyle is in heaven with God, and may he rest in peace and always remain in our hearts

Thank you brave soldier for your selfless sacrifice for the freedom of others. I am deeply grateful and profoundly humbled by your courageous service to our great country. May God bless your family and bring them peace and comfort.

We, like hundreds of thousands of Americans, cannot or will not join the Armed Forces in order to defend our nation from tyranny. Your loved one could and did. We will always thank God for people like him. And we thank you and grieve your loss and our country's.

Dear Family, I do not know any of you personally, but I am a very patriotic American. My ancestors were in past wars. I owe a great debt to all of our servicemen in all the Armed Forces who are currently serving & to those who have given their lives for my freedom. My heart is broken for the family and friends of Kyle.My husband served with him in Afghanistan and trained with him at Fort Bragg. When I recieved the news I was devastated. From what I precieved of Kyle he was a good man and a good soldier.It was a tremendous loss and I am so deeply sorry. Please, to the family don't be afraid to contact me if you need anything.My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Our entire family, myself, Patty,Lauren and Eric extend our simpathy to your family. Especially to Brad for the loss of his brother. My heart goes out to all of Kyle's family and friends. This is the first time for me that a loss like this has hit so close to home. You should all hold your heads high knowing that Kyle was lost wearing the uniform of a United States Soldier. He was one of the few in our great nation that answered the call of duty and you should be proud. It Takes a great man to sacrafice his life in such a way and we are all forever greatfull. Godspeed to Kyle and his family and all who knew him. He now looks down upon us from a place that we cannot yet fathom. Smiling, I'm sure. God bless you all. Amen.
