Franklin Roosevelt Thompson 58 of Rapidan, VA departed this life on September 13, 2008 at his residence, fighting a battle of cancer.

He was born on January 16, 1950 the son of the late Willie Marvin Thompson and Etta Frances Thompson. In addition to his parents he was proceded in death by his brothers, Leon Washington, Ray John Thompson, and son-in-law Martin F. Long.

He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Clara Bernice Thompson, two daughters; Lorretta Long of Orange, VA and Emily Thompson of Rapidan, VA, 5 grandchildren - Tameisha Long, Shanika Thompson, Tia Long, Tyra Long and Keyonia Thompson. Three sisters - Ruth Johnson (Gus) of Washington, D.C., Dorthea Thompson of Rapidan, VA, and Julia Johnson (Andrew) of Winston, VA, three brothers - Lewis Washington and Ray Josh Thompson of Mitchells, VA, and Ray Thompson of Petersburg. He has 6 Aunts and 4 Uncles, 7 sister-in-laws, 8 brother-in-laws and other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, September 19, 2008 at 12 noon at Bethel Baptist Church of Mitchells, VA, with a viewing one hour prior to service. Rev. Ludwell Brown officiating. A walk through viewing will be held Thursday, September 18th, from 3 p.m to 6 p.m. at W.C. Thompson F.H. Chapel. Interment will follow in the church cemetary. Arrangements by: W.C. Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. 503-7 North Main Street Culpeper, VA 22701.
