Bergquist Family, I am so so sorry for your loss. I am so glad we all had this wonderful man in our lives for a while. I have never known anyone so kind and lovable as Jerry, it was such a pleasure to be around him and his infectious smile even if only a few times.

Our hearts are filled with sympathy for the Bergquist family's loss. Remembering a few years back when our whole family traveled to Medford, OR. There, we watched as the first four men "ever" were inducted into the Suffleboard Hall of Fame. They stood together proudly on the stage: Ralph Duarte, Jack Tyler, Gerald Bergquist and Gaylord (?). One happy and proud day for these four men. There were many smiles and old stories told that weekend. I have a feeling, Dad and Bergy already have their pucks in hand, standing at the suffleboard. Bye Bye, Bergy. Sadly, another great guy gone.

Bergy was a very special man. I have known him pretty much my whole life. I remember all the "fishing" trips that my dad would go on and yes, you are right, they SOMETIMES would even bring back fish but the stories out lived the fish for sure! He touched so many lives and you never saw him with out a smile on his face! He will be greatly missed by all that knew him and his memory will definitly live on forever! We will miss you Bergy and will see you again someday!

Buddy was a very special Brother to me. I have such special memories of softball games at the YMCA field I attended with our Dad. We will all miss his smiling face and his great jokes he would tell. He used to wake our Mom up at night when he would come in to tell her a joke. She always new when he got home.
We love you and will miss you always.

I have fond memories of many summer evenings and summer weekends watching Jerry and his Shamrock teammates play at the old YMCA Field. I was amazed when he became a catcher... one position I would always avoid. Watching Jerry play gave me impetus to play City League Softball for several years also. (It was like having a second job though I would't have given it up for anything).
As long as I can remember, whenever I have been introduced to someone in our community, the question was always asked: "Are you related to Jerry Bergquist?" I was always proud to answer "YES." I always wondered how he had become so famous... but reading the other guest book comments clarifies that very nicely. Jerry will be sorely missed.

I have many great memories during the time when Jerry owned the Sea Hag and the Shamrock. Bergy played on a Tavern Owner’s pool team that my husband put together. They were called the Midnight Muscle and would play at the early tournaments held at the Sea Hag Tavern. The team consisted of Bob Hall from the Office, Gary Buckell’s from the Silver Star, Jerry Uhri from Beard’s Hollow in Castle Rock, my husband Bill from the Maltese and Bergy. There was not a team that had more fun at those tournaments.
My deepest sympathy to all the family.

I have nothing but fond memories of Bergie as he managed and coached the Shamrocks 63 through 67. With all the characters we had on those teams, I was amazed that he never seemed to get upset and always tried to get the best out of us. I will always be thankful for knowing Bergie. He made me a better person.
