My Uncle Edward was a great uncle to have. He often took me camping and he taught me to play ping-pong. He didn’t throw any games either; you had to earn a win. His only concession was when I was first learning he would play against me left handed; when I became proficient enough to win more games than not, he switched to his more dominant right hand where I learned the humiliation of losing again. The training came full circle when after I become good enough to consistently beat him and I switched to my left hand as a handicap to him.
He was always handy at building things and I learned to tinker on cars and such from him. He always had a stack of Popular Mechanics at his house which I loved to read through when I was a kid. He loved to joke around and he could always find humor in any situation. No matter how down in the dumps you might be feeling, his humor was infectious and never failed to cheer you up. He was a great man and I’ll miss him dearly but his health has been failing for a while now and I draw what little comfort I can by knowing that he is no longer suffering.
Aunt Dot, please know that my family loves you and will always be there for you when you need us.
Love,
Rich, Debbie, & Kylee

To all of the family, and especially to Georgette, we at American Legion Post 109 extend our deepest sympathies for your loss. May he rest in peace with all his fellow comrades who where part of the "Greatest Generation" and who so nobly served & protected their country and the world from tyranny.
