Melissa Harvey Obituary

Melissa R. (Anderson) Harvey, 85, formerly of Walter St., died Thurs., July 24, at the Hermitage Nursing Center, after a courageous struggle with Alzheimer's Disease. Her husband of 56 years, Ret. Col. Sanford W. Harvey, Sr., U.S. Army, died in 2002.

She leaves three sons, Ian D. Harvey and his wife Betsey of Worcester, Attorney Sanford W. Harvey, Jr. and his wife Dora of Mars, PA and Kevin G. Harvey, M.D. and his wife Deborah of San Francisco, CA; a granddaughter, Gillian E. Harvey of Worcester; a brother, Kenneth Anderson of Saint Croix; a sister, Eleanor Puryear of West Medford; nieces and nephews. She was born in Worcester, daughter of Kenneth A. and Mary Frances (Schuyler) Anderson and graduated from North High School.

Melissa was a bank teller for the former Worcester County National Bank. She was a member of All Saints Episcopal Church. Melissa was well known for her keen fashion style and love of singing and dancing.

The family would like to thank Dr. Bessie Hazard and the staff in the ACU at the Golden Living Center-The Hermitage and the Hospice members that cared for Melissa during her final weeks.

The Funeral will be held Tues., July 29, at 11 AM in All Saints Church, 10 Irving St. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery. Visiting Hours will be from 9 to 11 AM in the Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to All Saints Church, 10 Irving St., Worcester, 01609 or to the Worcester County Food Bank, 474 Boston Turnpike Rd. (Rt.9), Shrewsbury, 01545. Even though I had not seen your mother and father for many, many years I remember them so well. Your mother was such an elegant, kind and wonderful woman. I will always remember your father's ever-friendly manner, his warm greetings in that rich-baritone voice and how proud your mother and father were of you, their family.
