On behalf of the Hansen family, our thoughts and prayers are with Dawn and the entire Davis family. Our grandparents, Inger & Thor Hansen, and our parents, Ken (Knud) and Leah Hansen, worked for Dr. Davis managing Maplewood Farm during the 70’s and 80’s. He was a kind and gentle man who has always been so well thought of in our family. His patience and understanding of all the animals he treated was inspirational. Dr. Davis’ gentle manner touched all who knew him. We thank him for his kindness to our grandparents and parents. He will be dearly missed by all of us.

To the Davis family,
I was a young man when I first met
Dr.Forest Davis. My father and I owned a dairy farm in Granby and I
remember some of the miracles Milkey
and Davis did for us. Like performing
an operation to save a prize holstien
that had got a piece of metal in her
stomach. Many times I went with Dr.Davis for the day while he worked
and I learned alot from him. A kind and gentle man that everyone who
met him, liked him right away. I am
glad I had the privledge to know him.

Paul and I were very sorry to here of Dr. D's passing. For over 40 years he was the doctor to our four dogs. He was a very caring and compassionate individual. You could always trust his judgment when important decisions had to be made. We are sure going to miss him. May he rest in peace along with all those four legged ones that have gone before us.

We learned of Forrest’s death with deep sadness and loss. For more than 30 years he lovingly cared for or gave advice about the Evans’ menagerie ranging from horses, dogs, rabbits and cats to gerbils and a beloved chinchilla. His gentle and wise ministrations always conveyed to us and our children his deep respect for all of God’s creatures.
Our hearts and our prayers are with his family as we grieve with them and celebrate his life.

Dear Dawn and The Davis Family,
I was only 8 years old when I first met Dr.D. He has made a lasting impression on me. Milkey & Davis was our Vet for all our animals when I was a child and now as an adult. I remmember how kind he was to me and to my horse when she ripped open her chest on a fence post . He spent many patient hours sewing up that hole little by little and in the end left no scar. It made a very big impression on a very little girl!
Even though my husband and I have recently move out of Granby I still bring my horses to Salmon Brook.
He will be greatly missed.
Our thoughts & prayers are with you all!

Dawn and Family,
Not only was Dr. Davis a very knowledgable veterinarian, but he was also the kindest, gentlest man my husband and I have ever met. He understood, and we believe felt, the sadness and the grief we experienced when we had to have two of our pets put down. His compassion touched us both.
He will be greatly missed.

Forrest Davis was a good friend, an outstanding veterinarian, and a Christian deeply committed to international peace and justice through Plowshares Institute's international ministry of peace. We regret that we have been caught in Mexico by cancelled flights due to tropical storm Julio and will be unable to attend the service which we are sure will be a celebration of Forest's life and his contributions to Granby, his profession, and to world peace.

Dawn and the Davis family

It is hard to believe that Dr. D is gone, but he has left behind such a wonderful legacy. Most people knew him as a vet and a farmer, but I always thought of him as one of the greatest mentors a child could possibly have. He has made such an impact on so many childrens lives.

He taught them so much, responsiblity, respect, compassion, trust, character and so many things most young people never see.

He taught them that hard work was important, and you worked till the job was done. Jenn and Joel are the people they are today becasue of him. And, Dawn, I also know how much a part of all that you were.

This town, community and this state has lost a great man, and I know that he will be in everyones thoughts forever.

There is a saying I saw years ago, and it reminds me of Dr. D. It went something like, I did not do much today except to hang a swing in a tree and shorten the distance between a young child and the sky. That was Dr. D.

Joel carried a note in his wallet that he got from Dr. D., allowing him to ride his dirt bike on the property. He treasured that piece of paper.

Jenn was so excited when Dr. D called and asked her to come to the farm for the award he was to receive and then asked her for a hug. He truly was there for the kids and never forgot them.

Dawn, I would like to express my sincere sympathy at Dr. D's passing. I am truly shocked that he is gone. Although I have not seen him in about a year, I am deeply saddened by the news. I will always remember his kind and gentle manner with the animals when working with him at the hospital. And his patient ways with me as I was learning the be a tech. I am so very sorry for your loss.

I cant put into words how much I will miss Dr. Davis. Over the years he has tought me so much, not only agriculturally, but about life. I credit so much of what I do and take part in today thanks to him. I'll never forget the friday night contra dances with him in south church. He was always there for me ringside when I was showing and giving me the support and advise I needed, or helping me halter-break some crazy heifer! I'll always remember his handsome face and his warm heart. Thank you Dr. Davis for being such an inspiration and most of all a great friend. We will all miss you. Till we meet again, rest in peace.

When in thought of Dr. Davis, I think of a man who was very compassionate of many things. If you had ever met Dr. D you would have found that he was very soft spoken and gentle. He had a way with both animals and people that gained him much respect from all who surrounded him. He has left many great memories on our farm (Powder-Hill) that will be passed on for generations to come. "Doc D., If you're reading this best of luck and thanks for your great impact on all of us". We'll all miss you :)

I was *greatly* shocked and saddened to learn of Forest's passing. When I was last at the office, I asked about him but was told he had just been there.... no mention of his illness. Had I known I most surely would have sent, called or gone to see him. I have many fond memories of his helping me with my dachshunds over the years. Hard to believe it's been so many since he first started with Bob Milkey. May he rest in peace!

Dr. D was a wonderful person in so many ways. It's hard to think of driving down 189 and never seeing him out in the yard or walking to the barn. Whenever my Dad was away and I needed help at our farm (Millborne) he was always a phone call away. He has been a fixture in our lives for so long that it's hard to think of life without him. He inspired so many young people to pursue careers in agriculture. I missed not seeing him and Dawn at the 4-H fair last weekend and have been thinking and crying for him all week. I am deeply saddened but relieved he is now comfortable. He will be missed dearly.

Davis family, my sincere condolences to you all, on the loss of your father. His pleasant manner and reassuring professionalism in overseeing the health of our family dogs enabled us to enjoy healthy and happy animals. May memories over the years of time spent with your father be a comfort to you in the days ahead.
