Norman Gebo Obituary

Norman E. Gebo, 87, of Westborough, died peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Wednesday, October 8, 2008. He was the husband of 65 years to Irene E. (Rossi) Gebo.

Born in Manchester, NH, he was the son of the late Jasper and Hazel (Streeter) Gebo. He was educated in Westborough schools and was a 1940 graduate of Westborough High School.

During WW II, he served with the U. S. Army Air Force.

Mr. Gebo was employed at Bay State Abrasives for over 40 years, retiring as a general foreman.

He was a communicant of St. Luke the Evangelist Church, a member of the Westborough Senior Singers, a former member of the Westborough Players Club and of the Knights of Columbus.

Norman sang professionally after WW II for big bands. He also sang at many weddings, funerals and at the Willows weekly summer concerts.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Jan D. Gebo and his wife, Carole, of Westborough; one daughter, Lisa I. Gebo Cheer and her husband, Clair, of Pacific Grove, CA and two grandchildren: Stephanie Gebo and Matthew Gebo.

He was the brother of the late Athalie, Alter, Kenneth, John and Charles Gebo.

His funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, October 11 at 10:00 A.M. in St. Luke the Evangelist Church, 70 West Main St., Westborough. Burial in Rural Cemetery, Southboro, will be private.

Calling hours at the Rand-Harper-Pickering Westborough Funeral Home, 62 West Main St., Westborough, are Friday, Oct. 10, from 4 to 7 P.M.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to UMass Memorial Hospice, 650 Lincoln St., Worcester, MA 01605

Dear Gebo family,
I found out today of the passing of Mr. Gebo. The world lost the nicest man I could have know. I will miss seeing Mr and Mrs Gebo come in to Sabatini's for dinner. I will never forget his warm smile and kind words. God will watch over him now.
