Edward D'Amico Obituary

Edward R. D'Amico, 89, of Shrewsbury, died peacefully Wednesday, November 19, 2008, in St Vincent Hospital.

He is survived by his loving family; his wife of 62 years, Rose (DiLiddo) D'Amico; two sons, Jeffrey E. D'Amico of Tequesta, Florida, and David R. D'Amico and his wife CherylAnn of Grafton; two daughters, Sharon E. Horne and her husband Robert of Shrewsbury, and Lisa A. Caccialino, and Michael of Shrewsbury; seven grandchildren, Michael, Robert, Brian, Anthony, Cayla, Natalie and Sofia, and three great grandchildren Ryan, Victoria, and Tyler. Eddy is also survived by many nephews and nieces among them his god child, Susan Aubrey. He was predeceased by two brothers, Joseph D'Amico in 1987, and Gerardo D'Amico in 1995.

Edward was born in Worcester, son of the late Salvatore and Angelina (Armenti) D'Amico and has lived in Shrewsbury most of his life. He attended Worcester Public Schools and served in the United States Army 87th Airborne Division during WWII, in the Battle of The Bulge. Edward, was a salesman at the former D'Amico's Boston Bread Bakery on Shrewsbury St. for many years until he retired.

Eddy enjoyed all sports especially the Red Sox, and was a coach for many years for the Jack Barry Little League and the East Park Babe Ruth league for many years. He loved to golf, and listen to Jazz and Big Band era music. He was a devoted Frank Sinatra fan, but most of all he enjoyed being with his family. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Eddy was a life member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel-St Ann Church, a former member of American Legion Post #201 East Side, and a member of the Son's Of Italy, Indian Meadow's Country Club, and Brown Square Civic Club. The family would like to thank Heather and Chris from Care Solutions for all their help and support shown to Eddy and his family.

Edward's funeral will be held Saturday, November 22, from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., with a Mass of Christian burial at 9:AM in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel-St Ann Church, 24 Mulberry St. Calling hours will be held Friday from 5-8PM. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery, Shrewsbury. Contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 20 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
