Donald Robert Landmesser of Webster, MA passed away on March 25, 2026 at the age of 78.

"Donnie" was born on November 23, 1947 in Ouaquaga, NY, where he grew up as the youngest of seven children. After graduating from Framingham South High School in 1965, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. Over the next several years, he served as a flight-line aircraft mechanic in Vietnam and later with a tactical fighter squadron, earning a promotion to Sergeant in 1969. He completed a full in-country tour and was specifically recognized for his dependable, high-quality work under demanding conditions.

After his service, Don built a life centered on family and work in Massachusetts. He began as a laborer installing Olympic-sized pools for Whitten Corporation before pursuing technical training and transitioning into a career in computer technology. Ahead of his time in both interest and ability, his curiosity never wavered. Affectionately known as the "Google King" by his family, he rarely left a question unanswered. He went on to become a Senior Program Manager at EMC Corporation.

Don raised his two children with his wife in Milford, MA. In retirement, he enjoyed motorcycle trips and road trips to visit his son in Virginia. He relocated to Webster Lake, where he spent time boating, fishing, reading, and spending time with his family. There, he became "Don-Don," a warm and fun-loving presence to his great-nieces and nephews.

He is survived by his daughter Paulette and son-in-law Matt Griswold of Holyoke, MA; his son Nicholas Landmesser of Wytheville, VA; his former wife Pauline Murphy of Wytheville, VA; his sister Mary and her husband Joe Scoff of Bedford, NH; his brother David Landmesser of Shrewsbury, MA; his nieces Lugene Machunski of Webster, MA and Cindy Bernier of Uxbridge, MA; his cousin Karen Unangst; and many other nieces, nephews, friends, and loved ones who cherished his strength and kindness.

He was predeceased by his parents George Byron and Hazel Marie Landmesser; his brother Ralph B. Landmesser; his sisters Jean E. Whitten, Martha L. Roberts, and Carol M. Carlsen; and his in-laws: Myron R. Lewis, Jean F. Landmesser, George R. Whitten, James A. Carlsen, Norma D. Lewis, and Bonnie M. Landmesser.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday, April 11, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, with a service at 11:00 AM at: Buma- Sargeant Funeral Home 42 Congress Street, Milford, MA

Following the service, burial with military honors will take place at Hopedale Village Cemetery in Hopedale, MA, with a luncheon afterward at Willowbrook Restaurant, 16 Hastings St., Mendon, MA.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Planetary Society (https://www.planetary.org) or K9s for Warriors (https://donate.k9sforwarriors.org/).
