I went to school with Colin at BU and remember him just as others have described, a witty, intelligent, and passionate young man. I was saddened to learn of his passing in the recent issue of Bostonia (the BU magazine). Although we had not seen each other since college, I will remember and miss Colin.

I have only just recently learned of Colin's passing and am deeply upset, not just of the news, but of the loss of opportunity to say good-bye to this remarkable young man. I so enjoyed our "lively conversations" and your wealth of knowledge and good cheer. May you be eternally happy in the presence of the Lord!

Though Colin and I lost touch after high school, he remains vivid in my memory as one of he kindest people I've ever met. He was, as Ryan wrote, always looking for the best in people. I remember him cracking up when we made that bizarre Einstein video; dancing in tights for the school musical; having a long talk by the Clinton beach. I was so glad to hear he had become a teacher, and pleased - but not surprised - to read the loving tributes from his students and their parents. My deepest sympathies to his family.

I very sad I was to hear of the passing of Colin. I was his babysitting when he was small, such a beautiful child who grew into a beautiful man. My deepest sympathy goes to his family.

It was with deep sadness we learned of Colin's passing. His enthusiasm for history and his students was very evident during his years at RHAM, and his positive attitude was an inspiration to all. Our deepest sympathies to Erin, his family and friends.

Colin will always be remembered in my heart as a person with whom I most loved to but heads. In grade school we competed over grades. In junior high and high school, we debated any topic on which we could think to be contrary, and over things far more angst-ridden and dramatic, and yet somehow much less memorable. No matter the circumstances, he was one of those few friends who come to my aid when my soul most needed comfort. Much to his credit his actions were frequently unsung, and in some instances I did not learn of his kindnesses until months - or years - later. Although the years have seen us drift, he will be dearly missed. Colin, I hope that in our most long-ranging, and most contested debate, you have won. I will be happy to have lost.

My deepest sympathy on the loss of a talented and caring man. I had the pleasure of knowing Mr. Carey in only one thing we shared Hockey. Hearing Mr. Carey announce our hockey games meant a lot to the team over the last few years. He will be remembered to me as a hockey enthusiast.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you all on the loss of such a wonderful man. Colin's passion for History and Life did not go unnoticed, as he touched my son Sean(and so many other students) as his favorite teacher and someone he could go to just to talk and get advice. Our school has lost such a positive role model.

Colin will be remembered for the enthusiasm he brought to all tasks strange and mundane, for his ability to see the best in other people, and for his chuckle. He shows up in old videos playing the the role of a salacious Albert Einstein, as well as lamenting a lemon soda he drank at 3AM one morning. I hope his loved ones are able to take solace from the knowledge of a life well-lived.

As the parent of two of Mr. Carey's students at Oakmont, I saw firsthand what a positive impact he had on them. I am so grateful that last year I was able to tell him just how important he was to my kids. The world needs more dedicated and inspirational teachers like Colin Carey. My deepest sympathy to his family on the loss of a such wonderful man.

Such a tragic loss of such a wonderful young man with so much to give. May you remember in the days to come how very lucky you were to have been a part of his life. My thoughts and prayers are with Colin's wife Erin and their families and many friends at this most trying time.

From the day I first met Colin at my daughter Lexi's teacher conference, I knew he was special. Lexi always talked about what an awesome, dedicated teacher he was. She and I am sure many others will miss him. God Bless your family. He will never be forgotten
