Shirley Green Obituary
Shirley leaves her husband of 57 years, Kenneth C. Green; one son and daughter-in-law, Mark S. and Kathleen Green of Mooresville, N.C.; one daughter, Cheryl Green of Hubbardston; five grandchildren Meghan Green, Kristin Green, and Kathryn Green all of Mooresville, N.C., and Jillian Drury of Nantucket, and Jason Drury of Ayer; one brother, Charles A. Woodward of Hubbardston, and one sister Harriet C. Lovell of N. Fort Myers, Fl., and several nieces and nephews.
Shirley was born in Hubbardston on July 26, 1928 a daughter of the late Everett B. and Mary A. (Bumpus) Woodward. She has lived in Hubbardston all of her life, and was a Graduate of Athol High School the Class of 1946. Shirley was also a graduate of the Salter Secretarial School in Worcester the Class of 1948. She worked as an Office Manager for several different Physicians in Fitchburg for many years. Shirley's greatest possession was her Grandchildren. She loved doing crossword puzzles, knitting, flowers and gardening. She enjoyed the beach and traveling, she had a great sense of humor and a quick wit. Shirley was a diehard Celtic's Fan, and was always the hostess. Shirley was a Sunday School Teacher at the First Parish Unitarian Church in Hubbardston. Most of all Shirley will be remembered as being a loving, kind and peaceful woman.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. in the First Congregational Church of Westminster, 138 Main Street, Westminster, MA 01473. Burial will follow in the Rural Glen Cemetery, Hubbardston, MA. The family will receve friends from 10:00 am - till the time of the service.
In lieu of Flowers, Memorial contributions can be made in Shirley's Name to the Hubbardston Fire Fighters Association, P.O. Box 490, Hubbardston, MA 01452. The Westminster Chapel of the Sawyer-Miller-Masciarelli Funeral Homes, 123 Main Street, Westminster, MA 01473 is in charge of arrangements.
