Dolores Collins Obituary

DOLORES EASLEY (BORDEN) COLLINS
KING FERRY, NY - Dolores Easley (Borden) Collins, 77, of Oberon Drive, King Ferry, NY, died Tuesday, October 7, 2008, at her home. Mrs. Collins was born in Plattsburgh, the daughter of the late Charles and Catherine Pendergast Easley and had resided in King Ferry since 2005. Prior to that, she lived in the Ithaca and Oneonta area.
Mrs. Collins was a graduate of SUNY Oneonta, where she received her B.A. Degree and her Master's Degree in Education. She was employed as an elementary school teacher for 15 years in the Oneonta School District and for an additional 15 years in the Ithaca School District, retiring several years ago. She was a member of the New York State Retired Teachers Association, a Master Gardener and a member of the First Presbyterian Church of King Ferry.
Surviving are her husband, Charles J. Collins of King Ferry, NY; one son, Gary D. Borden and his wife, Marcia of East Davenport, NY; two daughters, Karen L. Borden of Milton, FL, and Lynne Borden McClure of King Ferry, NY; two stepsons, Joseph A. Collins and his wife, Luanne of Ithaca, NY, and Michael A. Collins and his wife, Joanne of Brooktondale, NY; one stepdaughter, Elizabeth A. Collins of Folly Beach, SC; three sisters, Lorraine E. Patten of Oneonta, NY, Gwendolyn E. Nichols and her husband, Richard of South Glens Falls, NY, and Penny E. Barber and her husband, Robert of The Villages, FL; ten grandchildren, Colin, Rebecca, Shyeanne, Robert, Daniel, Jesse, Carrie, David, Jennifer and Thomas; several nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to attend a memorial service, which will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 18, 2008, in the First Presbyterian Church of King Ferry, NY. Interment will be in West Genoa Cemetery, King Ferry, NY.
Expressions of sympathy may be made to the memorial fund of the First Presbyterian Church of King Ferry, King Ferry, NY 13081, in memory of Mrs. Collins.
The Shakelton Funeral Home of Aurora, NY is in charge of arrangements.
Dolores loved children and teaching and is remembered by many of her students as their "favorite teacher."

Mrs. Collins was firm but fair person - and I always held her in awe, because of the way see treated me and the way she spoke of others. Peter

PS She was generous too...she gave me chocolate chip cookies from her freezer after we we walked through her garden on Lief's Way...they rarely lasted the drive back to the shop at Cayuga Landscape Co. a mile or two away.
