At a young age, Carlos accepted Christ and united with Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Cleveland Jones. He received his formal education in the Anniston City School System and attended Anniston High School where he was a member of the Class of 1998. As a youth, he was active in sports and played football and basketball for Carver Community Center. After completing school, Peedie worked various jobs including Sunny King Toyota, Supervalu, Bridgewater, and McDonalds.
Affectionately known as "Peedie" by all his family and friends, whenever you encountered Peedie, he was always going to greet you with a smile and maybe one of his famous dance moves. He loved dancing and had a contagious smile that would brighten up the darkest room. Peedie would cut a rug at the sound of any music. He began his dancing and entertaining as a young child. He later became a participant of the undisputed dance group "Time II". Peedie performed in several Talent Shows across the state of Alabama. He was always full of life and lived life to the fullest enjoying everything it had to offer. Not only did he love to dance and smile, but partying was his passion. He was the life of every party making sure he kept everyone laughing. Peedie was a mentor to many young men in the community and was a friend who was loved by many. If you knew Peedie, you knew he had a heart of gold and would give you the shirt off his back if you asked. Peedie will be missed immensely by all the hearts he has touched and lives he has encountered. All his good deeds will not be forgotten. Along Peedie's path in life, while visiting his friend on July 4, 2008, he met the beautiful, Monita Jervet Wilson. After nearly six years of spending time with the love of his life, Peedie knew this was the woman God had chosen to be his wife and on February 20, 2014, the two became one when they were united in Holy Matrimony. Peedie was a true protector and angel to his family and friends. His children were the joy of his life. He laid down his life so theirs could flourish. Peedie will be remembered and not forgotten by the difference he made in everyone's life. People often referred to Peedie as "Tall Man". Although he was short in a statue, Peedie was big in love, caring, and putting others before himself. Peedie may be gone from our sight but will never leave from our hearts and minds. On Monday evening, January 16, 2023, at the age of 43, Carlos Derunt "Peedie" Miller, transitioned from this earthly journey while under the care of Regional Medical Center in Anniston, Alabama. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Sam Miller, Jr. and Margaret Satcher Miller, Margaret (Love) Carter and Robert Lee Carter, Sr., uncles, Timothy Carter, Samuel Carter, James Carson, and nephew, Ja'Kory Elijah Spinks. My prayers, love and condolences going to the Miller family, your family is such a wonderful group of people. I didn't know Peedie personally, Timeka spoken so highly of him that I felt I knew him. So to every family member just know I feel like you are my family also. Just remember (to be absent from the body, is to be present with the Lord).
