Melanie Grogan Brown

Melanie Grogan Brown passed away Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at Gadsden Regional Medical Center. Visitation for Melanie will be at the First United Methodist Church of Piedmont from 11:00 -1:00 p.m. with a memorial service at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, November 16, 2018. The service will be led by Rev. Keena Warren Cox, Rev. Don Neal and vocalist Kaylon Gilley. Melanie is survived by her husband, David Brown; children, Madison Naugher of New Orleans, LA, Katie Brown of Piedmont and step-daughter, Allie Brown of Hiram, GA; mother and father, Teddy and Lynn Grogan of Piedmont; one brother, Todd Grogan of Birmingham; nephew, Bryant Grogan; niece, Ava Grogan both of Birmingham; brother and sister-in-law, Scott and Kathy Kleiman of Atlanta, GA and many aunts, uncles and cousins, special caregivers and friend Karen Glover, Pat Morrison, Nicole Crawford and the Comfort Keepers of Alexandria. Melanie graduated from Piedmont High School in 1992 where she received many scholarships. She was a majorette and taught and coordinated PHS dance line routines. She also taught ballet and tap to children in Piedmont. She attended the University of Alabama. Later she finished her degree as a Board Certified Registered Nurse and worked in Labor and Delivery for 10 years in Atlanta before moving back to Piedmont with her family. She was a Crimson Cadet, was named to the Freshman Forum and was a pledge of AOPi at the University of Alabama. Melanie was preceded in death by her grandparents, Ted and Agnes Grogan, Ralph Childers and Joyce Childers Langston, and mother and father-in-law, Mildred and Cleo Brown. Thompson Funeral Home and Crematory was in charge of arrangements.
