Mel and I fought like typical siblings. My earliest memory is of him locking me inside the rabbit hutch cage and getting bit by his rabbit. I guess at around 4/5 I was bugging him. Then when he went into the Army he left me his car to use while he was gone. I took care of that car. He was to come home about Christmas time and I was to give him back "my" car. Well as luck would have it, a plan to go to town that evening with the girls, Jeryl Owsley, Marie Nowell, to celebrate ended and foiled by wrecking his car after school. There was a drag race happening with the whole student body it seemed present. As I slowly made my way through and spinning out was John Buckley who smashed into me. Long story short, Mel was home early as I found out when I came running breathlessly into the house to tell Dad that I wrecked Mel's car...all he said was " don't tell me, tell him" as he pointed towards Mel, holding my purse that I through onto the couch.
