Not sure what to say?

I had the pleasure of working closely with Phil for many years and had the benefit of his many words of wisdom. And he had many! I smile every time I think of him and the world needs more gentlemen like him. A true gentleman, scholar, and mentor. Not goodbye, just see ya later, Phil. You will be sorely, sorely missed by all of your Atlanta work family.

I was saddened to learn of Phil's passing. He was an active member of our retirement group which was mostly comprised of FAA'ers. While Phil spent his career with the NTSB, the friendships were garnered because of the collaborative work of the two safety oriented organizations. He will be missed, and my deepest condolences to the family while you mourn your loss. Rest in knowing that he is in a better place, and the memories you have made together will see you through the times of heartache. God Bless.

My deepest condolences. I worked with Phil way back in the early 1990s as a Cessna investigator, and later as an NTSB field investigator and manager. I last saw him when he retired from NTSB. He had a calming, wise presence about him. His dedication and long service to this country was admirable. He was a great man, and he is in a better place now.

My condolences to the Powell Family. Phil was kind, patient, funny and giving. I was incredibly fortunate to be one of the many interns at the NTSB while he was Regional Director and we are all better people and aviators due to his influence. Thank you for sharing him with us. God Bless you.

Gracie and family. Patty and I are lifting you all in prayer. Phil served this country with honor in the military and with the Safety Board. He was a good Christian man who was active in his community and his church. If it had not been for Phil there are several at the NTSB that would not have the careers they have today because of his mentorship. The NTSB would have lost some great people and a part of Phil's legacy lives on through his and their work. So once I say, By your leave Sir! Great job until we meet again.

To the family of Phillip,

Phillip was such a selfless person who showed love for family. The endless hours he put into developing a family pictorial record tree is priceless. Whenever there was any kind of family event.....he was there toting his camera.

His presence will always be felt and missed. Phillip blessed everyone he came in contact with. May his family remember his love in their hearts.

May God comfort and give His peace to his family.

Cousin,
