Robbie would be pleased to know that today on this sad anniversary her Harcourt colleagues are gathering for our annual picnic reunion at beautiful Chrissy Field by the bay in San Francisco. Kind thoughts of her ... and to her family

I worked with Robbie at Harcourt Brace Jovanovich starting in 1979 in San Francisco. We became friends ... and I was friends with her good friend Trisha ... I am stunned to hear this news, but I wish all of Robbie's family and friends love and comfort. She was a brilliant and beautiful person ... and a good friend to my budding editorial self. Godspeed, then.

I never knew or met Dr. Butler, but I feel a kinship to her because she was a bibliophile and was born in 1949, the same year that I was.
With condolences to her loved ones,
