Dana Larson Obituary

Dana David Larson
03/13/1956 - 09/22/2015

Born in Burlingame, Calif., Dana grew up in Belmont, Calif. and at the family summer home in Clear Lake Oaks, Calif. His family moved to Mountain View when he was in his teens. At the age of 17 Dana was in a motorcycle accident that resulted in left side hemiparesis, a right arm amputee, and severe head injuries. That did not deter him from graduating from Awalt High School, earning an Associates Degree at Foothill College, and then on to CSU Chico to earn a Bachelor Degree in Social Welfare. After that he went to the University of San Francisco to pursue a law degree.
While working at Stanford University as a counselor for their Youth Opportunity Program, Dana reunited with an old High School friend Diane Gallicchio. Briefly dating and falling in love, Dana and Diane were married in March 1987.
They started their family in Mountain View having first a daughter Danielle, then four years later twin sons Devin and Dillon. Dana kept very busy raising their children and providing for their family. In 2001, following his parents, the Larson family moved to the Sacramento area, relocating to Roseville, Calif. Dana continued to do what he loved-working with children.
He divided his time between volunteering at the local elementary school and at the local Family Crisis Center.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 28 years Diane Larson, his three children Danielle, Devin, and Dillon, and his sister Francine.
He is predeceased by his parents
Morris Alvin Larson, Genevieve Hildegarde (Wilhelm) Larson, and brothers Lanny and Larry.
Dana's life passions were being an avid Oakland Raiders fan, music, stand up comedy, and watching college football. He was very proud of his three adult children. He was the most wonderful and loving husband. He will greatly be missed by all.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, October 9, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at Chapel of the Valley Funeral Home, 97 Vernon Street, Roseville, Calif. 95678.
There will be a Celebration of Life reception to follow at Gingers, 1410 East Roseville Pkwy, Roseville, Calif. 95661.
In lieu of flowers, those interested are encouraged to make a donation to one of Dana's favorite charities: The ASPCA or Wounded Warrior Project.
