I met Gus, Jr. and his wife while tending bar at Harrahs Lake Tahoe. I was having a conversation with another guest about my Pittsburgh Pirates when Gus, Jr. spoke up relating that his father had played for the Pirates for about ten years in the 1930s. Not only played but was an All-Star and the team captain on the Pirates during an era that included Honus Wagner as a coach, the first great Pirate of the early 20th century. Anyway it was an honor meeting the son of another great Pirate.
